All I want for Christmas

I am normally quite good at Trivial Pursuit and enjoy flaunting that fact almost as much as my prowess at Scattergories, and so I find myself ridiculously excited about Trivial Pursuit for Book Lovers! For a hysterical review -- or at least an understanding of what English geeks find funny -- go here.

Of no particular importance or relation to the above, please remember that both my anniversary and birthday are next month ...

Our anniversary is next month?!...

Oh, I'm kidding dearest! But you know you're going to receive about 10 editions of the game now...

Dearest? Stop reading Hardy!

I know, I know. Read Hardy and I start talking like a damn Victorian.

Of course, the Hardy scenario would be that everyone reads your post about Trivial Pursuit, think everyone else is going to get it, and in turn no one will give it, and you end up not receiving it.

Further, Fate will damn you by allowing a well-meaning but complete idiot at work to receive it as a gift unexpectedly, barely know to how to appreciate it, but talk of it constantly.

I love Hardy.

If you want to sound insufferably superior, you can write a dismissive review of it. If so, be sure to complain about the heavy representation of (sneer) "accessible modern fiction" (mention Oprah for sure, perhaps even suggest that most of the questions refer to the sort of book you find on the floors of public toilets, and/or cite at least two of the following question topics: {Harry Potter, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Where's Waldo, Dan Brown}), complain about the underrepresentation of certain specific authors (perhaps supported by data revealing that you've gone through all the cards and counted the questions referring to authors X, Y and Z), and perhaps make a long list of influential authors/works not available in English translation, none of whom appear in the game at all.

As for me, I'm waiting for the International Book Lovers' edition (sneer, sneer, sneer).
