Downtime

Ah, the sweetness that is vacation bible school has begun. A whole week of mornings to myself, all while my child has a blast, so no guilt! Hooray! Of course, this means VBS music will become the soundtrack to our lives for a while, but oh well. At least Abigail will have fond memories of silly songs that theoretically translate into faith. I remember one about the devil sitting on a tack and the accompanying hilarity at getting to leap out of my chair and shout "NO!" I don't remember anything else about the song, barely even the tune, but ah, VBS was fun.

This could be your best opportunity yet to save yourself from the endless repetition that's resulted from me teaching her The Beatles' Octopusses Garden. :)

Come now, Heather... I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart (where?)... down in my heart... (where?)... and so on and so forth.

Ahh... almost as much fun as "The Lord's Army."

I hated VBS even worse than regular church (and that's saying a lot). As I vaguely recalled there was always a lot of yarn, glitter and glue. And of course all the "bad kids" who terrorized the rest of us.

I would've left this alone had the dunce not referenced the "bus kids" -- a group of children the church gritted its collective teeth to see on sundays but somehow wanted to import to boost numbers at VBS back in the day.
Let's just say that in the Dunce's household growing up, the loathing was universal.
