Movie plug

This will not count as an official movie review, since I have become lazy in my old age and just don't write that much in blogs anymore. Sorry.

But you simply must see "Death at a Funeral"! Brad and I were in hysterics the whole time. The drugged fiance should win an Oscar, and the bit with the dwarf and the drugs and the coffin ...!!!!! Oh, it was good.

I don't think that has been out here yet. The BT guy is in it, which only David will understand. BT are running a story line set of ads starring the guy who was the eldest son in "My Family" (there so Jenny can share too).

It hasn't been out there yet? But it's British? Which of course makes it funnier, but strange that it hasn't been out there.

It came and went extremely quickly back in November. Reviews were universally awful....

"Buy a ticket for this lifeless undertaking and you'll be the one who feels bereaved." (BBC)

"a fine British cast is wasted on feeble material" (Guardian)

"The press screening of this was like a foreglimpse of death, only with fewer laughs." (The Independent)

"A farce - but not in the way its makers intended. You might have hoped that Frank Oz could not sink any lower after his misconceived remake of The Stepford Wives...." (Daily Mail)

"...another effort that’s as funny as losing a finger." (Mirror)

"...grim, misjudged and seems to go on for ever." (Telegraph)

I saw this on the 'small' screen of a 474 returning from the UK. As it was one of four movies I watched in series (as many movies as I had watched through all of '07!) and was suitably entertained.

Saw it when it was here (can't believe it showed here, but it did!) and LOVED it. I have a thing for Matthew MacFayden (you know his wife in the movie is his real wife, btw?) anyway, and i was familiar with most of the cast, since I love BBC shows.

I could do without some of the potty humor, but it was hysterical! The high guy was hysterical!

And, to The Sister, I watched the first two seasons of "My Family" on dvd -- that's all that's available! I'm sad -- i want to see what else happened to them!

Well, what do British critics know, anyway? It was good, mindless stress relief on a Friday night!
