AYZAIR SAYS: Can't you just imagine it? A melodramatic reporter in hooded slicker saying, "Well, Bob, the wind's really picking up out here! It's getting harder and harder to stand up! You can really understand how this force can just pick up huge objects and turn them into projectiles -- THE TRUCK!!!!!!"

I'm glad to hear your Mom came through all right. I was wondering about that given where the storm came ashore. I hear it took the roof right off the courthouse in Milton. Maybe they'll just bulldoze it a build a nice one.
Your Mom is a seasoned hurricane veteran now, too. Have you read the comments of some of the folks in the Keys? Things like, this was my 24th storm and I've never left for one yet and I never will. The desire not to leave--the fear of watching your house get blown away on tv while you sit in a hotel room in, say, Wichita Kansas--is pretty strong. And I hate to say it, but Emily is coming along to test her promise.
